Abstract

Background - Geopark is an area that includes geological, ecological, and cultural elements that are expected to improve the local economy through tourism. Although the potential of local culture is significant, tourism
governance in many Geoparks has yet to be optimal in utilizing these cultural values.
Purpose - This study proposes a collaborative and sustainable local wisdom-based tourism governance model.
methodology - The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and focus group discussions (FGD), then analyzed using SWOT and content analysis.
Findings - The study results indicate that tourism management in Geoparks is still traditional and needs better coordination. Collaboration between the government, managers, and local communities still needs to be improved,
and community involvement in decision-making is minimal. In addition, although there is economic potential, the real impact of the existence of Geoparks on community welfare has not been felt significantly. This study proposes
a governance model focusing on increasing local community participation, preserving cultural values, and
increasing stakeholder coordination to optimize sustainable tourism development. These findings contribute to
formulating Geopark management policies that are more inclusive and effective in improving community welfare and maintaining the sustainability of the local environment and culture.
Originality - This study proposes a governance model focusing on increasing local community participation,
preserving cultural values, and increasing stakeholder coordination to optimize sustainable tourism development.
