The Urgency of Defense Economics and State Defense in the Curriculum of the Faculty of Business Economics

Background - Globalization, technological advancements, and shifting geopolitics have introduced new challenges that impact the economic stability and security of nations. Defense economics and state defense are increasingly relevant concepts for preparing the younger generation to confront emerging threats such as cyber security, climate change, and global economic vulnerabilities. Consequently, integrating these concepts into the curriculum of Faculties of Economics and Business in Indonesia is a crucial step toward strengthening national resilience.
Purpose - The primary objective of this research is to examine the urgency and relevance of integrating defense economics and state defense into the curriculum of Faculties of Economics and Business. Additionally, this study aims to explore how a deeper understanding of the interplay between economics and national security can equip
students to face global economic challenges and reinforce national resilience.
methodology - This study employs a systematic literature review and meta-analysis as its primary methodologies. The literature review synthesizes existing research on military expenditure, security policies, and the role of economics education in the context of defense. Data are analyzed to identify research gaps and key components that should be integrated into the curriculum.
Findings - The findings suggest that military expenditure and the development of the defense industry can have a significant impact on national economies. Integrating defense economics and state defense into the curriculum can provide students with a more comprehensive understanding of the relationship between economic policy and
national security, ultimately enhancing stability and national resilience.
Originality - This research makes an original contribution by highlighting the importance of economics education that incorporates national security considerations. The article emphasizes the need to integrate defense economics and state defense into economic and business curricula, a topic that has not been widely explored in the Indonesian education context. This integration is expected to produce graduates who are more competent and equipped to address global economic security challenges.
